50 Jahre Alte Schmiede

Im Herzen von Wien, wo einst ein giftiger Basilisk gehaust haben soll, befindet sich ein ganz besonderer Kraftort. Früher als Schmiede genutzt, ist er heute ein Werkstätte für Literatur und Musik, die allen offen steht.

Dort, wo einmal Eisen geschmiedet wurde, stellen Literat:innen und Musiker:innen seit fünfzig Jahren ihre Texte und Klänge einem breiten Publikum zur Diskussion. Die Programme sind klug kuratiert und decken eine enorme stilistische und ästhetische Bandbreite ab. Der Eintritt zu allen Veranstaltungen ist frei, das Publikum bunt gemischt.

Schon als junger Kompositionsstudent war ich Stammgast in diesem illustren Etablissement und durfte das eine oder andere musikalische Experiment selbst auf die Bühne bringen. Und bis heute zieht es mich abends immer wieder dorthin, um Neues aufzusaugen und mich mit anderen auszutauschen. Den kleinen roten Hammer, den mir der Generalsekretär bei einem anderen Jubiläum persönlich überreicht hat, trage ich stolz am Revers. Und sein Pendant - >Die Sichel, die seit einiger Zeit erscheint - lese ich immer wieder mit großem Interesse.

Ich wünsche mir, dass diese einzigartige Wiener Institution auch in diesen stürmischen Zeiten weitere fünfzig Jahren besteht.
