Op haar vierde kreeg Isabel Ettenauer haar eerste speelgoedpiano. Hij werd algauw vervangen door een vleugel. Ze herontdekte hem pas weer, toen ze zich ging bezighouden met muziek van John Cage, die de speelgoedpiano voor het eerst als concertpiano gebruikte in zijn Suite for Toy Piano. Sindsdien is Ettenauer verslingerd aan de speelgoedpiano en blijkt de beperking van het instrument componisten juist te inspireren tot het schrijven van unieke muziek.
